WHAT IS STREET ART?

Street art is a form of artwork that is displayed in a community on its surrounding buildings, streets, and other publicly viewed surfaces. Many instances come in the form of guerrilla art, which is composed to make a public statement about the society that the artist lives within, wanting to reach a much broader audience than a gallery.

Some artists use "smart vandalism" as a way to raise awareness of social and political issues. Others simply see urban space as an untapped format for personal artwork, while others may appreciate the challenges and risks.

Chalk Art

Appreciated by those who won’t permanently mark a public surface, chalk art is washed away by the rain. The style's popularity has grown under David Zinn’s artworks, in a 3D looking style, who's shown that you don’t need fancy or expensive equipment to make urban art.

Very inexpensive to purchase art made with LED lights have become a new way to make street art. Its’ popularity sky-rocketed when an advertising firm working for Cartoon Network hired two artists to produce art for the ad campaign; but it resulted in the arrest of the artists.
