Whether you're a seasoned director or an up-and-coming talent, this guide will walk you through the submission process step-by-step, ensuring that your film gets the attention it deserves. From eligibility criteria to submission deadlines, we've got you covered.
Only films completed within the last 18 months will be considered for general programming. However, those finished over 18 months ago but recently publicly shown may still be considered.
Any work globally available online before or during our festival is ineligible. However, if it's been virtually screened with geo-blocking outside Canada, it's still eligible.
As a general rule, a film that’s been showing publicly on the circuit for longer than a year and a half isn’t eligible.
Fantasia accepts works-in-progress submissions. If you believe your current version reflects your final film reasonably well, feel free to submit it.
If your film has been available for purchase by the public, it's considered commercially released and is no longer eligible for consideration.
Your cast and crew can post stills, trailers, or clips online without making your film ineligible.

+As a general rule, we don’t watch submissions across multiple cuts/versions as we enter your submission into our pre-screening process as soon as it is submitted.
Do credits count in my film’s official runtime?
+Yes, credits count in the film's official runtime
Can I submit more than one film?
+Filmmakers are welcome to submit multiple productions to Fantasia.
What are the sound requirements?
+We can screen stereo, 5.1, and 7.1, but are currently unable to play Atmos mixes.
